The veteran ended his time with 1.0 sacks and played three games while Olivier Vernon was out.

The Barwin signed a two-year contract with the Giants. According to Dan Schneier, “the Giants signed the veteran outside linebacker with the hopes of him mentoring younger players making the transition from the Giants 4-3 defensive scheme to new defensive coordinator James Bettcher’s 3-4 scheme. By the end of the 2018 season, Barwin was all but phased out of the defense.” Conner Barwin has been a part of four different clubs. After being drafted by the Houston Texans.

Lebron James Will Miss Another Week Due To Groin Injury http://thesportsforward.com/2019/01/06/lebron-james-will-miss-another-week-due-to-groin-injury/ Sun, 06 Jan 2019 05:53:38 +0000 http://thesportsforward.com/?p=1377 Los Angeles Lakers reported yesterday that Lebron James will miss one more week due to his groin injury he sustained on Christmas Day game against the Golden State Warriors. James is currently having daily treatments for his injury so hopefully James’ reevaluation goes great next week.

It’s highly likely that James will miss at least the next four games this coming week and three of them are against Western Conference teams. The Lakers are currently on a two game losing streak and have slipped down to the 8th seed in the standings.

The team needs James back quickly, as the team is 1-4 since his injury and have a record of 21-18.

NBA Rumor: Lakers Could Trade Lonzo Ball And Others For Pelicans’ Davis http://thesportsforward.com/2018/12/04/nba-rumor-lakers-could-trade-lonzo-ball-and-others-for-pelicans-davis/ Tue, 04 Dec 2018 08:07:32 +0000 http://thesportsforward.com/?p=1310 Over the last few weeks, trade rumors have been circling around the league and the Los Angeles Lakers are in the middle of that discussion. NBA Insider, Brandon Robinson reported that the Lakers are looking to trade point guard Lonzo Ball and other players for Pelicans’ star Anthony Davis.

There has been a lot of speculation about the Lakers acquiring another top player ever since Lebron James signed with Los Angeles back in July. Anthony Davis has come up in the discussion lately. Many in New Orleans don’t think Davis will re-sign with them once he becomes a free agent in two years. He can opt out of his contract next year after the 2019-20 season if he chooses. Davis has consistently said that he wants to compete for a championship, but that hasn’t been the case in New Orleans. Back in September, Davis signed with Lebron James’ agent Rich Paul from Klutch Sports.

There’s no question, that if Los Angeles is going to acquire a top player like Anthony Davis, they will have to give up young assets to do so. As the season progresses and the trade deadline gets closer(February 7th), I figure the Lakers will be active in trying to acquire better players and I believe Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and others would be in the middle of the trade talks. While Ball has looked terrible on offense most of the season, Ingram hasn’t developed further since Lebron James has joined the team. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope would be another player on the trade block since he’s a shooter and has an expiring contract after the season. He’d be perfect for a playoff team.

The Lakers have many young pieces that would be desirable to any team in the league. In just happens that they will have to give up a young asset, maybe multiple if they are aggressive in trying to trade for a top tier player.

Chicago Bulls Fire Fred Hoiberg http://thesportsforward.com/2018/12/03/chicago-bulls-fire-fred-hoiberg/ Mon, 03 Dec 2018 20:39:07 +0000 http://thesportsforward.com/?p=1303 This morning the Chicago Bulls fired head coach Fred Hoiberg. This season has been difficult for the Bulls with a  5-19 start. The Bulls are ranked 14th in the Eastern Conference. They are one game ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are the last team in the division.

Hoiberg had been receiving plenty of criticisms prior to his termination. Sports journalist, television personality, co-host of First Take and host of the Steven A Smith Show, Steven A Smith agrees with the removal of Fred Hoibeg. Steven A Smith mentioned on First Take this morning, that former head coach Fred Hoiberg is “not someone who should be coaching on this level”.

Fred Hoiberg was the head coach at Iowa State before entering the National Basketball Association. Fred Hoilberg has been replaced by his associate head coach Jim Boylen. Boylen will coach the team for the rest of the season. Boylen has to prepare his team for the challenges ahead. Tomorrow, December 4th, the Chicago Bulls take on the Indiana Pacers in Indiana.

Green Bay Packers Fire Mike McCarthy http://thesportsforward.com/2018/12/02/green-bay-packers-fire-mike-mccarthy/ Mon, 03 Dec 2018 01:35:51 +0000 http://thesportsforward.com/?p=1295 After a disappointing 20-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the Green Bay Packers fired head coach Mike McCarthy during his 13th season. The failure to beat the Cardinals dropped the Packers to a 4-7-1 record for the season. Joe Philbin, the team’s offensive coordinator, will take over as interim head coach.

McCarthy’s record with the Packers was 125-77-2 during the regular season an 10-8 in the playoffs. He also led the Packers to a Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XLV against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Green Bay won at least ten games eight times in McCarthy’s first 11 seasons, but there drop in production last two years led to his firing.

The Packers offense has not looked good at all this year and with an all-time great quarterback in Aaron Rodgers that is not acceptable, so they had to get rid of McCarthy. I think the loss to a 2-9 Cardinals team at home was the last straw for the Packers management.

N’Keal Harry Declares For 2019 NFL Draft http://thesportsforward.com/2018/11/27/1288/ Tue, 27 Nov 2018 13:00:15 +0000 http://thesportsforward.com/?p=1288 Arizona State wide receiver announced that he would forgo his senior year season to declare for the 2019 NFL draft.

Harry had 73 catches for 1.088 yards and nine touchdowns this season for the Sun Devils. He recorded four games of more of 100 yards receiving. He is ranked as the number two in the wide receiver rankings behind Marquise Brown of Oklahoma, according to Mel Kiper Jr.

Harry was named the Pac-12 offensive player of the week twice and special team player of the week once.

Harry has 213 career receptions that’s good for third all-time in Sun Devil’s history.

I think N’Keal Harry will be an outstanding pro receiver. He is 6-4, 221 pounds and runs well. Harry runs route well and will be good jump ball receiver with his 6-4 frame. Another plus is he is a good punt returner, terrific when he gets the ball in his hands. Whoever drafts him will be getting a good player.

Will Jimmy Butler Get Traded This Season? http://thesportsforward.com/2018/11/09/will-jimmy-butler-get-traded-this-season/ Fri, 09 Nov 2018 21:10:38 +0000 http://thesportsforward.com/?p=1237 After watching multiple Timberwolves games this season, you can clearly tell that Jimmy Butler wants out of Minnesota. While Butler is on the floor, his effort isn’t there and he doesn’t seem engaged with the offense at times. The Timberwolves record is currently 4-8 and they haven’t won a single game on the road (0-7).

Every week throughout the NBA realm, one of the many questions comes up, “Will Jimmy Butler get traded this season?”

A week before the NBA season, it was made public that Butler wanted to be traded to either a team in Los Angeles or New York. Butler has already missed three (3) games so far due to “general soreness” but many believe he’s trying to sit out so Minnesota will trade him.

It’s unclear whether a team will trade for Butler before the trade deadline on February 8th. I don’t believe a team will trade for Butler, unless they can reassurance that he will sign an extension with them.

Butler is currently averaging 22.2 points a game while shooting 49% from the field.

San Francisco Giants TO Hire Farhan Zaidi As President Of Baseball Operations http://thesportsforward.com/2018/11/06/san-francisco-giants-to-hire-farhan-zaidi-as-president-of-baseball-operations/ Wed, 07 Nov 2018 03:38:48 +0000 http://thesportsforward.com/?p=1232 The San Francisco Giants reportedly have reached a deal with Farhan Zaidi as president of baseball operations. Zaidi was the Los Angeles Dodgers the general manager the past four seasons.

The Dodgers won the National League West all four years and two World Series appearances under Zaidi lead. Zaidi developed a reputation as a brilliant numbers guy and a person who listens to his scouts. This got him the job for the Dodgers.

Zaidi is known to be an outside the box thinker. He helped designed the blueprint to get the Dodgers to two straight pennants. He did that by changing the balance between starting pitchers and relievers and using platoons even if it meant sitting power hitters against certain pitchers.

I think this is a solid move for the Giants; they needed some new blood on the management team to get things going in the right direction. But only time will tell how this hire will work out.

Cavaliers Fired Coach Tyronn Lue http://thesportsforward.com/2018/10/31/cavaliers-fired-coach-tyronn-lue/ Wed, 31 Oct 2018 21:23:35 +0000 http://thesportsforward.com/?p=1218 On October 28th, 2018, the 4 time NBA finals coach Tyronn Lue was fired as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. After the departure of All-Stars Lebron James and Kyrie Irving, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been having trouble getting back on track. With six back to back losses as a season start, needs to be resolved.

The Cavalier fan base will not forget the road that it took to get to the 2016 championship. Former Cleveland Cavalier star player, current Los Angeles Laker and mogul Lebron James made a comment on the departure of his former coach.

Tyronn Lue will be missed in Cleveland. Larry Drew is the interim head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Under his leadership, the team earned their first win last night against the Atlanta Hawks 114 to 136. The Cavaliers advance to a record of 1-6 as they prepare to take on the Denver Nuggets in Cleveland tomorrow night.
