The Texas Rangers have acquired right hander Emmanuel Clase from the San Diego Padres via trade, according to an official team announcement.
Clase, 20, has yet to appear this season but has pitched in several different rookie leagues over the past three seasons.
Over that span, Clase has posted a 3.74 ERA.
Texas will send catcher Brett Nicholas to San Diego. While Nicholas has yet to make his way to the majors, he has been playing well in TripleA, batting .314 with 8 homers.
