Ben Simmons Vs. Donovan Mitchell For Rookie Of The Year

Philadelphia 76ers Ben Simmons has won the 2018 Rookie of the Year award while beating out Utah Jazz stardom Donovan Mitchell. This year has caused a lot of discussion between the two rookies because both players had fantastic seasons.

According to Las Vegas Sports Betting, Simmons odds of winning rookie of the year are -250, while Mitchell’s was +195. Below are the change in sports betting odds between the players from February to April.

Simmons came in the league in 2016 but missed the entire season after suffering a fracture in his foot during practice. That made him eligible under NBA rules to be a rookie the following season. He had a spectacular season running point guard for the 76ers and only missed one game. Simmons came close to average a triple double for the season with 15.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 8.2 assists. Ultimately, he helped his team get to the playoffs with a 52-30 record.

Donovan Mitchell had a stellar season as well, averaging 20.5 points a game while shooting 43.7% from the field. He led his team with a record of 48-34 and made a lot of noise during the year when he broke the single season 3-pointers made with 186. Mitchell is a pure shooting guard and showed that in the playoffs when he scored over 24 points a game while leading the Jazz to the 2nd round in the playoffs.

Either player could have won the rookie of the year award and both players have entirely different skill sets that brings excitement to the game of basketball.
